Today: the finish you cannot judge from a thumbnail.
Body: A decal is not a sticker. It is a litho-printed ceramic transfer, applied by hand or machine, smoothed flat, dried for up to a day, and then fired into the glaze at around 800 °C. The paper burns away. The pigment stays fused in the ceramic.
That extra firing step is the entire reason this finish looks different:
✨ Full colour — not spot colours, actual artwork ✨ Gradients and fine detail that survive the kiln ✨ Genuine gold and platinum lustre ✨ The look of decorated dinnerware, not a printed promotional item
Where it still catches people out:
⚠️ Every mug passes through application and firing, so more labour steps and a longer lead time than a surface print ⚠️ Metallic lustres are not microwave safe and are best hand washed ⚠️ A cheap low-fired decal and a properly fired one look identical on arrival. They do not age identically. Ask what the firing temperature is, and ask for a wash-test result.
